Through the Doula Access Grant Program, Omaha Better Birth Project provides financial support to help cover the cost of birth and postpartum doula services for low-income and teen families. We believe that every birthing person deserves compassionate, continuous support, regardless of their financial situation. Through these grants, families receive personalized care from a certified doula of their choosing during labor, delivery, and the often-overlooked postpartum period.

Doula Grant Values
- Birth Doula Grants – $1,600.00
- Postpartum Doula Grants – $1,400.00
Eligibility
- ALL applicants must meet the WIC income guidelines OR be 19 years or younger
- BIRTH grant applicants must be between 15-32 weeks pregnant & planning to birth in the Omaha area
- POSTPARTUM grant applicants must be pregnant and planning to birth in the Omaha metro area, OR be less than 12 weeks postpartum and reside in the Omaha metro area
Grant Recipient Requirements
- Provide proof of income and identification documents
- Interview and select a professionally certified birth or postpartum doula of their choice, ensuring the doula’s availability for the their estimated due date
- Grant recipients are responsible for any cost of the hired doula beyond the grant value
- Notify Omaha Better Birth Project of their selected doula
- Agree and commit to any contracts or agreements between the doula and themselves
Payment Process
- Provide All payments are handled directly between OBBP and the doula. No payments are made to the award recipient.
NOTE: Families who wish to have a Birth AND Postpartum doula must apply for BOTH grants. Receiving a birth doula grant does not enroll in or award the family a postpartum doula grant, or vice versa.
